Virginia E. O'Quinn, 88, of Lebanon, died Thursday morning, July 9, 2015, in Lebanon North Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon.

She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in the High Prairie community, near Lebanon, to John Guy and Julia Evington Luthy Appling.

On June 18, 1950, she married Olan Harrison O'Quinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olan O'Quinn, on June 1, 1989; a son, Kevin O'Quinn; a grandson, William Bradley Clark, and a sister, Eleanor DeBerry.

Virginia graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1943, and then attended a Western Union Training School and was employed for a time in Monroe, La. After returning to Lebanon, she was employed at the MFA as a bookkeeper, and then at various other places including Laclede County Courthouse, Lebanon Medical Center, H.D. Lee, Vernon & Sons, and First United Methodist Church. She served as secretary at First United Methodist Church from 1978 until retiring in 1989. She and her sister, Eleanor, also owned and operated a knit shop for a few years. Virginia was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years.

She professed her faith in Christ at the age of 13, and except for a short time in Stockton, Calif., she had been an active member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. She spent many hours in volunteer work serving as president of her Circle and the United Methodist Woman, driving the van for the children's choir, and for the Young-at-Heart group.

Survivors include three daughters, Gail McKimmey and her husband, Dean, of Grovespring; Lee Ann Neal and her husband, Darren, of Bois D'Arc, and Maribeth Harrill and her husband, Chris, of Lebanon; two sons, Rick O'Quinn, of Lebanon, and Keith O'Quinn and his wife, Pam, of Tarrytown, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Miles Appling and his wife, June, of Kansas City; a sister, Marjorie Hough, of Lebanon, also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Virginia E. O'Quinn will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon with the Rev. Rick Broadway and the Rev. Marsha Vincent officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial donations to First United Methodist Church or the Gideon Bible Ministry may be made through the funeral home.
