Marjorie is survived by a brother, Miles Appling, of Kansas City, Missouri; five nieces, Beth Long, and her husband, Kent, Gail McKinney, and her husband, Dean, Maribeth Harrill, and her husband, Chris, all of Lebanon, Missouri, LeeAnn Neal, and her husband, Darren, of Bois D'Arc, Missouri, and Lisa Jolley, of Joplin, Missouri; five nephews, Charles DeBerry, John Appling, and his wife, Peggy, all of Springfield, Missouri, Keith O'Quinn and his wife, Pam, of Tarrytown, New York, Rick O'Quinn, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Phil Appling, and his wife, Linda, of Kansas City, Missouri; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; a very special friend, Dava McShane, of Springfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She then moved to California where she joined the Navy WAVES (Woman Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) and was assigned to Clearfield, Utah Naval Supply Depot. She was discharged on April 25, 1946, and was very proud to be a World War II veteran. Once she moved back to Missouri, she met Dean while she was working at Farmers Exchange. They eloped and made their home near Oakland, later moving into town due to Dean's health. Marjorie was a longtime employee of the Sears and Roebuck Store in Lebanon, until retiring. She also was a devoted homemaker and caregiver to her husband.
Marjorie was raised in the Methodist faith and then she and Dean attended Antioch Baptist Church until 1987.
