The Carnegie (OK) Herald, Wed., Mar. 16, 1927 Mrs. Hackleman's Mother Dies In Dallas Last Month
Mrs. Susan German, mother of Mrs. W.G. Hackleman of northwest of Alfalfa, died in Dallas last month. Mrs. German had lived with Mrs. Hackleman for a number of years and is remembered by many people in the community. The following Whitesboro (Texas) News-Record:
Mrs. Susan German, formerly of Sadler, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.J. Thompson of Dallas, Saturday, Feb. 12. She was born at Honey Grove, Texas, January 15, 1845, and was 82 years and 27 day of age at the time of her death.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Cardwell, pastor of the M.E. church of Sadler.
Mrs. German was one of the pioneer women of Grayson county, having settled on government land in early days, and still owns a portion of the same at the time of her death.
Mrs. German was one of and the last surviving charter member of the Sadler M.E. church.
Honor and esteem for this good woman was shown by a very large attendance at the funeral and a large beautiful floral offering.
She is survived by one son, Rev. C.A. German of Altus, Okla., and the following daughters: Mrs. O.J. Thompson of Dallas, Mrs. W.A. Ross of Hinton, Okla., Mrs. W.G. Hackleman of Mountain View, Okla., and Mrs. J. S. Latta of DeQueen, Ark.
Those attending the funeral bedside from a distance were W.G. Hackleman of Mountain View, Okla., Mrs. C.A. German of Altus, Okla., and Mrs. W.J. Harvey of Dallas.
Interment took place at the Sadler cemetery.
