Corine Hampton Creel, 74, passed away at her home in Shingle Springs, Calif., surrounded by her family on Friday, May 15, 2015.
She was born in Lakeview on Aug. 20, 1940 to Wayne and Mabel Hampton and grew up in the area surrounding Lakeview. She was a third generation Oregonian.
Corine met the love of her life, Clyde Creel as a teenager at LHS. They were high school sweethearts and were married in Lakeview on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1958. In 1959, they moved to Redding, Calif. to attend college. They had one son, Curtis in 1960.
Corine worked for the State of California for over 37 years, starting with the Public Utilities Commission in Redding before moving to the Department of Rehabilitation. She ended her career at the Department of Toxic Substance Control. She enjoyed her work and was honored to serve the people of California. She retired from a long and successful career in public service in 1997.
Corine was a member of the Sacramento Valley Pilots Association (SVPA) for 33 years. Flying was a passion and source of enjoyment for her.
Corine’s faith was very important to her. She attended church all of her life. She was unable to attend services for the past two years, yet the members of her church, Shepherd of the Hills Covenant Church in Shingle Springs, let her know she was missed.
She is survived by her husband Clyde Creel; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Traci Creel; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Janet Hampton; identical twin sister and brother-in-law Norine and Henry Jordan, sister and brother-in-law Susan and Mike Donahue; grandchildren Courtney and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
Her entire family will miss Corine and her down to earth common sense approach to life and her unconditional love and support of all.
A graveside service will be held at the IOOF Lake County Cemetery on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Dan St. Clair will officiate. Those attending are invited to join the family for lunch at the Elks Club following the service.
Corine loved animals and she would be honored by donations made in her memory to the SPCA.
