At 2:30 o'clock a.m. Wednesday the long and well spent life of Mrs. Mary Reynolds terminated. She had been confined to her bed about a week and during that time her hold upon life rapidly weakened until the end came.
Deceased was born in Philadelphia, Penn. March 29, 1804, and in six weeks she would have reached the advanced age of 83 years.
She came to this city with her husband in 1864, when the house built in early times by Capt. Baxter, adjoining the college campus on Seminary street, was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds and has since been the home of deceased.
Her husband died here in 1874.
She had been a member of the Baptist church since 1838 and was one of that society's strongest supports always active and earnest in the promotion of good.
Five children survive—three sons and two daughters. Joseph N. is the only one of the number who resides in Napa. One of the daughters lives in Iowa and the other in Kansas. The home of one of the son's is in Cass County, Iowa, and that of another in Santa Cruz, Cal.
Deceased was the grandmother of nineteen children and the great-grandmother of seven. She was greatly beloved in this community.
The funeral took place from the Baptist church on Randolph street Thursday at 2 o'clock p.m.
