He was an Apothecary in Carlisle. He was the 3rd son of the 1st Baronet of Lag, Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, Auld Lagg.

It would be impossible to misunderstand that he was dead, if he were a corps.

February 24th, 1730 - 1 bottel of clarit when the scarloath was put on. L 0 1 6.

My guess is that JOHN Grierson was buried the next day, 25th February, 1730, in Old Dunscore Churchyard.
