"Sam Asher who was the only soldier killed in Vietnam who went to Clermont Northeastern High School. The three flags and poles were put there in his memory. The flag is the one which was put up in his honor when the visiting wall was at the Helicopter Park."

"He died as the result of metal fragment wounds in combat operation, the telegram said."

Volunteered for Army Nov 22, 1965; Left Oakland, Calif. Dec. 9, 1966 arriving in Vietnam Dec 19. He was sent to combat immediately and died eight days later.
