Mrs Wesley Horak Sr., 80, died this morning at the Vinton hospital following an illness of three months. Mrs Horak entered the hospital Nov. 15.
She was born Nov. 15, 1880, near Prague, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of Mr and Mrs. Albert Koutney. She came to the United States at the age of nine and traveled directly to Cedar Rapids. She was married Sept. 27, 1900, to Wesley Horak Sr. at Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Harrison township in 1912 where they farmed until moving to Vinton in 1938. Mr Horak died Dec 9, 1951.
Surviving are three sons, Wesley M. Horak Jr. of Vinton; Milton L. Horak of Waterloo; and Harry T. Horak of Vinton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Frank Bednar and Mrs Joe Horak, both of Vinton; and a brother, WIlliam Koutney of Brandon.
Mrs. Horak was a member of the Presbyterian church in Vinton.
Funeral services will be held monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Fry and Holland funeral home conducted by Rev. Fred Telecky. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery at Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
