Margaret C. (Bissing) Slimm, age 97, passed away June 17, 2001, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

Margaret was born September 14, 1903, in Hays, KS, to Jacob and Katherine Bissing. She was the last surviving child of a family of seven boys and six girls.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William J. Slimm, and by her two daughters, Billie Lou Murphy and Peggy Jean Dinges.

She is survived by her only son, Phillip J. Slimm and wife, Marcia, and nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Margaret resided in Kansas City, MO, since 1940. She was a top sales producer for the Reliable Life Insurance Co., in the mid to late '40s. She was active in Missouri Republican Party and served as a state committee woman from 1945 to 1949. She was very proud of her voting record, having voted in person or by absentee ballot for every city, state, or National election since 1940.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend to all, and an excellent cook and seamstress. She was still embroidering up until the last weeks of her life. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Carondelet Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since April 1998.

Visitation will be at Muehlebach Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Private graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements: Muehlebach Funeral Home
