Joseph Bednar, 93, a resident of Americans Healthcare Center, died Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Hopital following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1891, at Ely, and married Blanche Zeman, Feb. 27, 1918, at Iowa City. She died in 1975. A Cedar Rapids resident since 1918, Mr Bednar worked for Quaker Oats for 35 years prior to retirement.
Surviving is sister, Rose Luchterhand of Cedar Rapids.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel by the Rev. Charles Mehaffey. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. today.
