Mrs Antonia Bednar, 90, resident of Vinton 60 years, died Sunday noon at the Virginia Gay Hospital annex.
Death was due to complications of advanced age.
She was born May 28, 1885 in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of Albert and Frances Dvorak Koutny. She was married Oct 31, 1904 in Cedar Rapids to Frank Bednar, who preceded her in death May 17, 1970.
Surviving are two sons, Richard of Vinton and Wilbur of Osage: three daughter, Mrs Lenord Chrysler, Mrs Orval (Matilda) Dye and Mrs Gail (Dorothy) Showalter, all of Cedar Rapids; 21 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and three sisters.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Gordon officiating, and burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
A memorial fund has been established for the Baptist Church.
Her family's records in Czechia, including her own birth record, are held in the Velka Lhota-Helvetic Confession (Protestant) Parish near Jindřichův Hradec, right at the border between South Bohemia and Moravia. The hamlet of Poldovka, where she and her siblings were born, is considered a neighborhood of Velka Lhota.
