Luella M. King, 94 years old, of Palmer, Nebraska, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.....
Mrs. King was born on February 27, 1908 to George and Mary (Mortensen ) Gregersen in Elba, Nebraska. She grew up and attended Elba Schools graduating from Elba High School in May, 1926. She taught in rural schools in Howard, Merrick and Nance counties for 12 years.
On September 20, 1933, she married Donald J. King in Dannebrog, Nebraska. In June of 1966, she received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska. She taught in the Special Education Department of Palmer School until 1974 when she retired.
In 1963, she took over the Gamble Store in Palmer after her husband died on November 28, 1963. She then later sold the store to Dallas Wegner.
In 1999, she moved to Riverside Lodge in Grand Island. She resided there until 2001 when she moved to the Elkhorn Life Care Center in Elkhorn, Nebraska.
She was a member of the Palmer United Methodist church in Palmer, the Sunshine Circle, the Palmer Senior Citizens, the Palmer Commercial Club, the University of Nebraska Alumni Association and the Elba High School Alumni Association.
She enjoyed teaching, painting and fishing and the beautiful outdoors.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Judy King; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
