Elizabeth “Betty” Mae Todd, 80, died on June 25, 2015, at the Advanced Care Facility in Billings with her loving family by her side.
Betty was born in Lovell to Warren and Nellie Mae Emmett on Oct. 5, 1934. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Deaver, and was the only girl amongst nine brothers.
Betty attended beauty school and became a successful stylist in Cody for several years.
She then returned to school and earned a business degree from Northwest College.
About that time she met her heartthrob, Terry Todd. They married in 1974. During their 41 happy years of marriage, Terry has never removed his wedding ring from his finger.
Betty brought five children into the marriage. Terry brought three, and the two families noisily and happily blended into one … not quite like the Brady Bunch, but lovingly, just the same. They all enjoyed camping and fishing every summer at Wood River Campground near Meeteetse.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She adored spending time with her family and she especially loved Christmastime, when the whole gang came together and filled the house with laughter, presents and love.
Betty was an avid reader, writer and Sudoku and crossword puzzler. She also was a talented painter, woodworker and crafter; and skilled at sewing, knitting, embroidery, crochet and quilting.
Betty was creative, sharp and witty. She was active in the LDS Church and the Relief Society.
Betty was preceded in death by her son, Buddy Champagne, and brothers: Warren Jones Jr., Ned, Clarence, John, Charles, Worral Ray, Warren James and Robert Lynn.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; brother Jerry Emmett (Ev); and children Sue (Jack) Orr, Carma (Buck) Moore, Jeri (Carl) Schuler, Nellie Owen, Tammy (David) Ellis, Tara (Steve) Torrey and Troy Todd; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
