Grandpa or Uncle Davy, as he was commonly called, was a man of great will power, always ready to go where his business called him. He was cheerful in disposition. He was a kind husband and a loving father. He was much thought of by all who knew him. He united with the Regular Baptist church in his boyhood at Friendship, Hendricks county, Ind. Before he died he prayed for his children and told them he wanted them all to live right. He knew his time had come to leave this earth and he was ready to go.
Dearest father, you have left us, Here your loss we deeply feel; But 'tis God Who has beref us, He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet you, When the day of life is fled; Then in Heaven with joy to greet you, Where no farewell tear is shed.
