A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Lykens, Dauphin County, June 15, 1863, mustered into state service at Harrisburg June 19 as a private with Co. D, 26th Pennsylvania Militia, and honorably discharged with his company July 30, 1863.
In 1880, he was a coal miner living in Tower City, Schuylkill County.
