Joseph V. Bean, 37 years old, of Bethel, died Friday morning in the Veterans Administration Faculty Hospital, Philadelphia. He was a world war veteran and had served overseas. He was a knitter by trade and a member of the Red Men Club and the Reindeer lodge of Lebanon, and the Independent Order of Americans, Myerstown. He leaves to survive his wife, Myrtle (Noll) Bean and a son, Joseph, Jr. His mother, Mrs. Ellen Bean, of Lebanon, also survives as do the following brothers and sisters, Raymond, of Texas; Boyd, of Kansas; John, of Myerstown; Mrs. Edna Peiffer, of Lebanon; Mrs. Martha Kleinfelter, of Lebanon and Moses, at home. Funeral services were held Tues. morning at 9 o'clock for Joseph Bean, with Rev. Wert, pastor of Trinity United Brethren church officiating. Services were held in Rohland's funeral parlors. Further services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Knoll, Shamokin, with Rev. Britkosky, of Shamokin, officiating. Interment was made In the Odd Fellows, cemetery, Shamokin. Ammon Brown and William O'Donnell, both members of the Lebanon Veterans of Foreign Wars, accompanied the body to the Shamokin destination.
