CRUM, James 1806 - 1899: James Crum was born in Clark County, Ind. (Source? Other sources say, Kentucky -ed) on Sept. 22, 1806, a son of Matthias and Margaret Spangler Crum. James was a brother of Christian Crum. James and Christian came to Cass County, Ill. in 1830. James took up 160 acres of government land and made it his home until he died. DEATH OF MRS. CHRISTIAN CRUM - Mrs. Christian Crum died at the home of her son, Mr. David M. Crum, near Arcadia Thursday, with typhoid pneumonia, after an illness of seven days. She was in the 69th year of her age, and had been a member for nearly 50 years. She was born in Clark county, Indiana, in the year 1813 and was married to Christian Crum 5 Jul 1831, by Dr. W. F. Short, of this city. She united with the Methodist church that year. She was the mother of eleven children, of whom eight, six sons and two daughters are still living - all married. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock this morning at Union church, four miles northwest of Arcadia. The services will be conducted by Dr. Short. He attended their 50th anniversary wedding on July 5th, last, and also presided at the funeral of the husband on January 1, 1882.
