Daniel C. Brown, 89, of Kittanning, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Boyer, the son of Daniel and Florence Ellen (Selfridge) Brown. Daniel lived in Kittanning all of his life and honorably served with the Army in Germany during World War II. He worked as a machinist, at H. E. Brocious and Pullman Standard, and also worked as a machinist on the side. Daniel was a lifetime member of the Armstrong Hunting and Fishing Club and one of the oldest living members of Kittanning Hose Company No. 1. Hunting, fishing and gardening were his favorite pastimes, and he also enjoyed shopping at St. Vincent DePaul in Kittanning to see what treasures he could find. Daniel will be greatly missed by those who knew him and will be remembered for his extensive knowledge of Kittanning's history. He will be greatly missed by his son, Daniel O. Brown and wife, Rosalie, of Worthington; sister, Mary June McCanna and Jim Ewing, of Ford Cliff; and several nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Blanche G. Brown, who died Jan. 23, 2002; and brother, Ora Maxwell Brown, who died in 1988. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where a Hose Company No. 1 memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kathleen M. Davis and the Rev. John Foester co-officiating. Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning. Contributions can be made in Daniel's honor to Hose Company No. 1, 208 S.
