Cecelia was the daughter of Jens Hansen Skow and Maria Petrina Hustrop. She married Chris Wiuff on March 3, 1898 in Rutland, Humboldt, IA. They were the parents of 6 children: Serena, Jess, Ida, Blanche, Reuben, and Richard.


March 23, 1951 - Humboldt Republican - Cecelia Annetta Wiuff, daughter of Jens and Maria Huston Skow, was born at Gibson City, IL June 18, 1876 and died at her home near Humboldt Monday morning, March 19 3:45 a.m. Her age at the time of her death was 74 years, 9 months, and 1 day.

Mrs Wiuff came to Iowa with her parents in 1882 and has lived in Iowa since that time. She was united in marriage to Christian J Wiuff March 3, 1896. They set up farming near Humboldt and Mrs Wiuff has lived on the same farm for 52 years. Mr Wiuff died Oct 24, 1930.

Six children survive. They are Serena Lindhardt, Goodhue, MN; Jess of Des Moines; Ida Christiansen of Mora, MN; Blanche Lauck of Memphis, TN; and Rueben and Richard of Humboldt.

There are also three brothers and two sisters: Pete Skow of Rutland, Matts Skow of Rutland; Anton Skow of Humboldt; Doretha (Mrs Lewis Lindhardt) of Mora, MN; and Rose (Mrs Walter Lindhardt) of Kirbyville, TX.

One brother, Henry Skow preceded her in death.

There are also 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Another individual, Erhard Larson has made his home with the Wiuff family for 35 years. Since the death of Mr Wiuff, he has managed the home farm for Mrs Wiuff.

Before her death, Mrs Wiuff was one of two living charter members of the Baptist church of Humboldt. She joined the church when it was located north of Humboldt. The Wiuff family played a large part in the organization of the church and the early history of the church was a pleasant memory to Mrs Wiuff. She enjoyed very much talking of the early days and how the ministers and visiting speakers were entertained in their home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday fro the home and from the 5th Ave Baptist church of Humboldt. The services were in charge of the Rev. Warren L Green local pastor and the Rev Albert Wiuff of Harlan. Pall bearers were Jess Wiuff, Thorvald Christiansen, Tom Lauck, and Erhard Larson. Burial was in the Humboldt cemetery beside her husband.
