Mother of Local Woman
Word has been received here of the death of Sallie B. Akers, 83, of Topeka, Kan., mother of Ila Mae Brooks of 5765 E. Road 100 S. She died at midnight Thursday at a Topeka hospital following a one month illness.
Funeral service and burial will be conducted Tuesday at Topeka.
Mrs. Akers was born in Texas January 20, 1898. She was the widow of John L. Akers.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles and Jay Akers, and another daughter, Norma Leibrock, all of California, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. [She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daugher, Violet M. Akers.]
