In 1944, after graduation from Alango High School, Dottie moved to Seattle, Wash.
She was employed by Boeing Aircraft Co. and worked inside the nose of the B-17 Flying Fortress bombers. In 1946, Dottie married her first husband, Raymond Ervasti, and had three children. She was widowed in 1958. She married Kenneth Olson of Hibbing in 1959, and they were married for 51 years until his death in 2010.
Dottie was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the cabin at Perch Lake, where she baked her famous rye bread and many other great treats. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, loved to dance and play cards with family and friends.
She will be remembered and loved for her sweet and gentle spirit and her innocent sense of humor. We were lucky to have her in our lives.
Dottie is survived by her children: Darrell (Mary Jo) Ervasti, Candace Ervasti and Leanne Ervasti: sister-in-law, Myrna (Olson) Persson; brothers-in-law: Donald Persson and Duane (Joy) Johnson; grandchildren: Aaron Ervasti, Nathan (Shannon) Ervasti, Simone (Ronnie) Moore, John (Melissa) Warren, Fletcher Ervasti and Raegan Ervasti; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Arthur Flank; sisters: Lois Johnson and Sharon Kallio; brother, Raymond Flank; first husband, Raymond Ervasti; and second husband, Kenneth Olson.
Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
