LINDA RAE "RAYLENE" HYDE COE, 72, of La Grande, OR, died June 7, 2015, after a short battle with cancer. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Island City Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mrs. Coe was born Oct. 10, 1942, to Sheldon and Mildred (Hagey) Hyde in La Grande. She attended/graduated cosmetology school and then went on to be a successful hairdresser for more than 30 years, in addition to owning many shops over the years. She raised her family in North Pole, returning to Elgin when her sweetheart, Nathan Ray10 Coe (Andrew Harsley9, George Andrew Jackson8, Sylvester R.7, Henry6, James5, William4, John3, Richard2, Richard1) , retired. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, card playing, bowling, sewing, crocheting, and fishing. She was a member of the LDS Church, AARP, Order of Eagles, and the Good SAMS Club.

Survivors include her mother, Mildred McMurphy of La Grande, OR, and children: Bobby Coles of Maryville, TN; Thomas Coles of Boise, ID; Sherri Wright of La Grande, OR; Linda Huycke of Wasilla, AK; Cynthia Henderson of Colorado Springs, CO; Melissa Gentleman of La Grande, OR; Shellie Holden of Lakeview, OR; and seventeen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a sister, Janet Sortman, of Springfield, OR; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan, and her step-father, Sid McMurphy.
