Funeral services for Mrs. J.S. Phillips, 89, of Dallas are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Sorrells and Sons Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Welborn officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park.

She died Friday in Fort Worth after an illness of three weeks.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Greenville on Jan. 14, 1887, the daughter of Robert Leatherwood and Mary Leatherwood. She was preceded in death by her husband J.S. Phillips in October of 1954. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Senior Citizens Group of Wesley Church, and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Foy R. LeFan of Fort Worth and Mrs. K.E. Luckett of El Paso; one brother, Rev. J.E. Leatherwood of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Grace Phillips of Greenville; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Jones of Denton, Mrs. G.R. Skinner of Sulphur Springs and Miss Lula Leatherwood of Dallas; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by several neices (sic) and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Sylvester Phillips.
