Bertha Van Horn, 74, 3504 N. Franklin, died early this morning at Ball Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Van Horn was born in Franklin County, Ohio, but had resided in Muncie most of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Coates and Larry Coates, Muncie; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Katherine) Hunt, Mrs. Billie (Marjorie) Marting, and Mrs. Dave (Caroline) Mills, Muncie, and Mrs. Dale (Imojean) Pyles, Marion; a half-brother, Albert Abshire, Muncie; two sisters, Ruth Vorhees, Redkey, and Ruby West, Muncie; two half-sisters, Helen Overby, Farmland, and Florence Hall, Muncie; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Van Horn was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and another sister, Ethel Carter.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Calling hours at the mortuary are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and prior to services Monday.
