Irene Isabell (Bittick) Cooper passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Caldwell, Idaho. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with Rev. John Mars of Caldwell United Methodist Church officiating. She was born on March 27, 1917, in Topaz, Missouri, to William Bittick and Leona Sloan Bittick. She moved with her parents to Idaho in March of 1926 and they settled in Parma where her father farmed for Judd Stewart. Irene graduated from Notus High School in 1935. She continued her education by commuting to Drake Beauty College in Nampa where she graduated in 1935. After graduation, she opened her own beauty shop in Wilder where she worked for four years. She then moved to Caldwell where she worked for her good friend, Dorothea Purcell, at the Powder Puff Beauty Salon. She met many good friends there. Irene met Lilburn Cooper and married him on January 7, 1945, in Caldwell. Lilburn was in the service and was deployed overseas shortly after the wedding. When he returned, they moved to California and then to Arizona where he was discharged. They returned to Caldwell, where they lived the rest of their long lives together. Irene operated a beauty salon in her home for over thirty years where every customer was a good friend. Irene loved gardening, baking, and reading. She enjoyed the annual Notus High School reunions and working at the precinct on election day. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 58 years, Lilburn Cooper; her brother, Herb Bittick of Glendale, Arizona; her daughter, Barbara (Bill) Precht of Meridian; her son, Gary (Jane) Cooper of Pocatello; four grandchildren, Jacob Precht of Meridian; Aaron Cooper of Seward, Alaska; Peter Cooper of Bozeman, Montana; Elizabeth Cooper of Los Angeles, California, and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank friends, relatives, neighbors and Four Rivers Hospice, especially LeAnne, for their support and loving care of Irene. Discovery Way, Boise; Notus High School Library, 25260 Notus Road, Notus; or to a favorite charity.
