According to records from the National Parks Services' Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System database, I believe Moses Crane served in the 63rd Indiana Infantry, Company H and died at the age of 37 years. According to the Sons of Union Veterans database, he enlisted on Aug. 20, 1862, served as a wagoneer and was discharged due to a disability on Nov. 22, 1862. His stone is very badly weathered and nearly impossible to read, as well as broken.

He appears in the 1870 census as living in Liberty, Warren Co., Indiana; married to Mary with two children, Mary (6 yrs. old) and Elmer (1 yr. old).
