Father- Richard C Crutcher
Mother- Louisa F. (Lucy) Ham

Wife- Minnie Bell Combs married July 3, 1890 in Johnson Co, TX

Richard Charles' real birth date is May 21, 1864 as far as I can calculate.

Birth year in the July 1870 Census states Richard as just turned 6 years old from May to July and that he was born in Tennessee. His family came to TX for sure after the date Dec 26, 1865. So he had to have been born back in Tennessee before the birth year 1866 as stated on his death certificate!

Our ancestors really did not keep up with their birth years. Therefore the many official records found on a particular individual can reflect a varied birth date and year. I tend to go with a person's birth year as a child on Census a record instead of an older record when that person is grown.

Having other young brothers and sisters listed on the same document helps us determine the ages. But on Richard's 1949 death certificate, the family listed the year 1866 which Richard probably believed he was born!

As people aged they seem to get confused on their own particular birth year. Records of the Modern Age has definately focused on people's birth dates and years.

Richard lived most of his adult life in Dallas Co, TX. He is listed in all US Census records from 1870 to 1930. His parents are listed in the 1860 TN Census as a young married couple with no children. He is sure to be listed in the 1940 Dallas County Census record when it is opened for public view.
