Sophie died 7 months after having her youngest child, Ted. Her obituary appeared in the "Ashley Tribune," Friday, December 17, 1915, page 4.
"On Monday last Mrs. Carl Martell past away, having been ill for some months with consumption. Mrs. Martell was 32 years old and emigrated here from Russia. She was buried in the Lehr cemetery on Wednesday."
There was no place of burial included in her death certificate. The cemetery has no record of her burial, nor does the church, and no headstone has been found. The only burial information is the obituary.
