She was born July 31, 1920, in Bellevue, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Miller) Missler.
Bertha married Charles Manlet Sept. 28, 1942, at St. Sebastian’s Church, Bismark. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue, where she worked for many years as a cook in the rectory. Bertha was also a member of the Altar Rosary, the former Daughters of Isabella and the St. Jude study club. She served as a crossing guard at the intersection of Orchard and Main streets for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and being with her family.
Bertha is survived by two sons, Eugene (Diane) Manlet and Robert (Wendy) Manlet, both of Bellevue; daughters, Jackie (Marty) Shelley of Bellevue, Cheryl (Kenneth) Shaver of Bellevue, Carol (Charlie) Daniels of Bellevue, Helen (George) Smith of Norwalk, and Betty Mann of Ypsilanti, Mich.; 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Stieber; grandchildren, Jacalyn Mann and Steve Smith; son-in-law, Richard Stieber; great-grandchild, Marcus Stieber; brothers, Charles, Herbert, and Richard Missler; and a sister, Stella Didion.
Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
