She was born in Ilion, June 29, 1916, the daughter of Eugene and Daisy McGuinnes. She received her education in Ilion schools. At he Church of The Annunciation, Ilion, in 1941, she married John Carney. The couple resided in Utica for many years. Mr. Carney died in 1976. Mrs. Carney had resided with her son in Clark Mills for the past five years. She was a member of The Church of The Annunciation, Clark Mills, and for many years, was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica. She was also active in the Professional Business Women's Association in Utica for many years and the Antique's & Collector's Club. Mrs. Carney also enjoyed a long term membership in Gamma Chi.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and William Capanna, of CT; a son, Rev. J. Michael Carney, Pastor of The Church of The Annunciation, Clark Mills; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Charlotte McGuinnes, of NC; and a sister-in-law, Betty McGuinnes, of Rome. Mrs. Carney as predeceased by a brother, James McGuinnes.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:45 from the Owens-Paviot Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton and 10:30 from St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt.Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Friends are invited and may call Sunday, 2-4 nd 7-9, at the funeral home.
