Charlotte Mae Miller, 89, of Hinckley, Illinois, died Friday, November 7, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.

Born February 19, 1925, in Big Rock Township, Plano, Illinois, the daughter of Morton N. and Mabel F. (Conklin) Morris, Charlotte went to Little Rock Grade School, and Big Rock High School, graduating in the Class of 1943.

Charlotte married Francis E. Miller on November 24, 1945, at Big Rock English Congregational Church. The couple lived in Aurora for two years, Maple Park, then in Pierce Township for 23 years before moving into Hinckley in 1971. Their union was blessed with four children and many grandchildren.

Charlotte enjoyed being a housewife and loved working side by side with her husband in farming, gardening and flowers. She held many offices at Pierce United Methodist Church. She also was into ceramics for 20 years and sold candy at Sandwich Fair for 50 years, until 2009, and was known as the “Fudge Lady.” For many years, Charlotte was president of Big Rock Historical Society, and helped establish Big Rock Library, and was an election judge. She was always willing to help others in different ways. She enjoyed her family greatly, attending their sports and music events in school.

She is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Leland) Russell of Lee, Janet (George) Stevenson of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Linda (David) Hoehn of North Aurora and Ronald W. Miller (Diane Johnson) of Sycamore; grandchildren, Angela (Brad) Male, Dawn (Kevin) Grivetti, Kevin (Kim) Russell, Renee (John) Segel, Scott Stevenson, and Alexandria and Rob Hoehn; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kyle Male, Forrest, Morgan and Aurora Grivetti, Dylan Segel, and Keri and Jessie Weaver; sister, Gladys Liltz of Elk Grove Village; sister-in-law, Elaine Morris of Sugar Grove; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 2004; a grandson in infancy; parents; sister, Elizabeth Grover; and brothers, Donald, Floyd and Ernest Morris.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, at Grace Fellowship Church, formerly East Pierce United Methodist Church, 17081 Owens Road, Maple Park, with Pastor Michael Morrell of Mendota First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at East Pierce Cemetery, Maple Park.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 9, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
