Dr. Paul George Kinnard, 86, physician and USAF Colonel (ret) passed away May 26, 2015 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Dr. Kinnard had a long and distinguished career as an Obstetrician - Gynecologist both in private practice in Wichita Falls, Texas and in the United States Air Force. He served as a Flight Surgeon in the USAF, Chief of OB/GYN, Chief of Surgical Services, Chief of Surgical Services for the South East Asian region from 1973 to 1975, OB/GYN advisor to the Surgeon General as well as numerous other duties and honors. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1962. He was a scholarly, humble, and devout Christian. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1953 and a longtime worshiper with the WIN some class of the First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls, Texas. Dr. Kinnard was a devoted doctor who delivered over 10,000 babies and cared for many in his career.
Born to Laban B. and Ethel Mae Kinnard in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1929, he was the next to last of eleven children.
While stationed in the Navy at Tongue Point Naval Air Station in Astoria, Oregon, he married his beloved wife Mary of Gresham Oregon in 1949. They later moved to Walla Walla, Wa., attending Walla Walla University majoring in Chemistry. While he was a medical student at Loma Linda University in Southern California he became a member of the US Air Force. Dr. Kinnard was honored when he was accepted into the OB/GYN Residency program at Brook Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Kinnard was a huge sports fan and loved watching football, baseball, and basketball. He enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years. His happiest times were spent on his farm and tending to his livestock.
Dr. Kinnard is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Charlie Kinnard of Dallas, Texas; Sister-in-Law, Sally Spencer of Gresham Oregon; five children: Janice Kinnard of Wichita Falls; Robert (Bobby)Kinnard of Las Vegas Nevada; Susan Kinnard-Maekawa and husband, Takehiro of Osaka Japan; Michael Kinnard and wife Deana of Dallas, Texas; Patrick Kinnard and wife Anne-Marie of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandson, Benjamin Cooper of Wichita Falls; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
