Katherine Rebecca Booth Holdren, 93, of Runk & Pratt at Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg and formerly of Thaxton, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 3, 1921 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Gordon Rufus Booth and Clara Jane Steffey Booth. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Henry Holdren.

Katherine was a dedicated and active member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a retiree of Bedford Weaving Mill with over 46 years of service.

In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by four siblings, Heloise Fisher, Clarence Booth, Kermit Booth, and Ernest Booth.

She is survived by two sons, Arvid W. Holdren and his wife, Judy and Emmett B. Holdren and his wife, Sharon all of Forest; two grandchildren, Teresa Stinnett of Goode and Jason Holdren of Washington, DC; three great-granddaughters; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Irene Holdren and Helen Booth; a special niece that was thought of as a daughter, Clara Elizabeth Burnette; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Claudine Cassell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Runk & Pratt at Liberty Ridge and especially her caretaker, Jessie McCullock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 1145 Penicks Mill Rd., Thaxton, VA 24174, Bedford Life Saving Crew, PO Box 161, Bedford, VA 24523 or a charity of your choice . A memorial service was conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeane Dunkum and Pastor Danny Holdren officiating. Inurnment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
