Bowers Mrs. Howard Bowers, 88, nee Anita Magdalene Lang of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A mass of resurrection was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m., at St. Marys Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilberto Vallejo officiating. Dorothy Weinheimer was the organist and Annette Whittington, the vocalist.
Interment followed in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
A vigil service conducted by Deacon Louis Loth was held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home where the body lay in state prior to the funeral.
Mrs. Bowers was born March 20, 1915, at Harper, the daughter of Charles Lang and Ida Klein Lang. She married Howard Bowers on Aug. 6, 1935, in Harper. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by one son, two daughters and their spouses, including Mildred Eisenhauer, New Braunfels; Robert and Trish Bowers, Leakey, and Edith and Robert Allen, Las Vegas, NV.
Also surviving are six grand-children, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by a grandson, Wayne Eisenhauer; three brothers, Walter Lang, Edwin Lang and Arthur Lang; and two sisters, Gertrude, Mrs. Arthur Bernhard and Amalia, Mrs. Adolph Loth.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fredericksburg EMS, Pioneer Memorial Library or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Joe Lang, Leo Lang, Oliver Lang, David Loth, James Allen and Shane Hohmann.
