Sarah Virginia "Jennie" Shumate was the daughter of George "Nelson" & Teressa (Green) Shumate. Her siblings were:

Mary E Shumate
Susan A Shumate (1840 – 1841)
Whitson Green Shumate (1842 – 1928)
Martha Paige Shumate (1843 – 1911)
Elizabeth A Shumate (1848 – )
Sarah VIRGINIA "JENNIE" SHUMATE (1850/1851 – 1891)
Wilson Bailey Shumate (1856 – )

Virginia was still living when she and BOB BLOXTON had their third child, Claude Robert Bloxton, in May 1881. It could be that she died in childbirth or something, because she disappeared after that.

Jennie, age 20, was married December 21, 1871 to:
Robert Jefferson Bloxton, who was the fifth son of William Ashby Bloxton, and his first son with his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Burton Bloxton.

ROBERT JEFFERSON BLOXTON (b. abt. 1847-1848 in VA) (d. abt. 1903 in WV).
(m. 1st 21 DEC 1871,

For some reason, Bob left Jinny behind in Rock Hill, Stafford County, VA, location #184, June 19, 1880 census, with their two children and was listed in Shady Spring, Raleigh County, WV, as a "Carpenter" (age 38, although he was 32) and "single" (Virginia joined him later on in WV, and their son, Claude Robert, was born to them in 1881 in WV). In 1880, he was living with (and probably working for) a couple from England who had a lumber business in WV: John L. & Jane Wilson.

3. CLAUDE ROBERT BLOXTON (b. MAY 1881, Raleigh Co., WV - d. 1900)

"Bloxton, WV" hamlet was named after RJB, where he did a lot of building –- in 1907 it was renamed McCreery, WV. Nearby towns (five miles East from McKendree): Terry/Teery, Prince (train station, stops there) Quinnimont. In 1974, a well-known newspaper columnist from Oak Hill, WV: Rev. Shirley Donnely, wrote an article about Robert Jefferson Bloxton; it was included with other information that Alfred Bloxton sent to me. The article is two columns wide and 12-15" long. Rev. Donnely had a column for years in the Raleigh Register (evening paper) and the Beckley Post Herald (morning paper). Ruth kept all his columns. – (Danny & Alfred delivered both papers to earn money.)

R. J. Bloxton was an architect; he built all kinds of buildings in Hilltop and Fayette Co., WV. He built a famous and beautiful opera house that had all kinds of stage shows in Glen Jean, WV, but "he didn't drive every nail in it." He planned the whole thing –- was the boss man. It is no longer standing; it was ¾ mile from Red Star. Alfred doesn't know if it burned down or what.
R. J. built their smaller family home in Hilltop, WV (which burned down after being sold 2-3 times; Beulah only had a photo of the chimney after fire; a family from NY built a nice brick home in its place) after he built the larger home across the road (Beulah had a photo of this house). R. J. built a house for his daughter, Florence "Flossie" (Mrs. W. Garnet Dickson), by his first wife, which is still standing; it joins the orchard – part of property with a fence between.
