Olson, Joyce Whiting
86, of Tempe, Arizona passed away on September 30, 2012. Joyce was born March 7, 1926 in Mapleton, Utah to Mary and Oscar Whiting. She graduated from BYU and then taught junior high for three years in Grantsville and Springville, Utah. She then served a mission for her church in the Atlantic States Mission (North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia) in the 1950s, and soon after returning, she married Heber and they began their family. She enjoyed raising their eight children in Tempe. After their retirement, she and Heber served a mission to South Africa in 1992-1994. She enjoyed working at the Mesa Temple for ten years, participating in family gatherings, and travelling with Heber. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends because of her great kindness and love. She is survived by her husband Heber and daughters Susan (David Ray), Elizabeth, Debra (Mark Holt), Mary Ann (Andrew Howard), and Shauna (Joel Clark), and sons Eric (MaryLynn), John, Bruce (Debbie) and 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn (Don Alston). Viewing: Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 at LDS Chapel at College and Alameda in Tempe. Viewing at 10:00 with the funeral at 11:00 at same site.
