John Acker
Another veteran of the Civil War has been stricken from the active roll and added to the long roll of those who have passed to the great beyond.
John Acker died at the Peekskill hospital on Thursday after a lingering illness , in his 76th year. The deceased
was born at Montrose, Feb. 2, 1844, the son of Abram Acker and Catherine Conklin, but had resided in Peekskill since early childhood and was a molder by trade.
He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted a t New York City on Jan. 5, 1864, and mustered Into Co. C,
Sixth Heavy Artillery, as a private. He was mustered out with his company Aug. 24, 1865, at Washington, D.C.
The deceased is survived by three
daughters.
The funeral services will be held
this Saturday afternoon from 219 St.
Mary's street, at 2 o'clock, and will be
in charge of Abram Vosburg Post No.
95, G. A. R., of w h i c h he was a member.
The interment will be at Hillside
