WEST TRENTON - Mary P. Gordon, 93, passed away Sunday at home with her loving children by her side.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong resident.
Mary was the first female employed by the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation's Bituminous Testing Laboratory, where she retired in 1981 as an engineering technician after over 25 years of service.
She was a graduate of Trenton High School Class of 1933, attended Trenton Junior College, and she was a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton. Mary loved to garden and was a longtime member of the West Trenton Garden Club. Devoted to her family, Mary's wisdom, quick wit and ready smile will be missed but never forgotten.
She was daughter of the late Arthur and Dora Scott Lanning and sister of the late Wilfred, Henry, Richard and Arthur Lanning, Rhoda Parent and Edith Beck. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Alice and William Heisler of West Trenton; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lynn Gordon of Yardley, PA; seven granddaughters, Suzanne (Daniel) Scozzaro, Lynda Kelly and fiance Steven Cubberly, Beth (Shawn) Turgyan, Kacy and Darcy Gordon, Dawn (Kevin) Fritts, and Lori (Stephen) Meiggs; and 10 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and Joseph Scozzaro, Bryan Kelly, Tyler and Brook Turgyan, Ryan, Kaitlyn and William Fritts, and Peyton Meiggs. She is also survived by Corey-Lynn and Nicole Cubberly and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held noon Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, 120 E. State St. in Trenton.
Burial will be in Ewing Church Cemetery.
