Caroline Ashton Cheston, 80, who was active in civic and community affairs, died Sunday at her home in Chester Springs.
Former president of the board of trustees of the Ambler School of Horticulture, now the Ambler Campus of Temple University, she was former president of the Acorn Club and the Planters Garden Club. She was a trustee of Frontier Nursing Services in Wendover, Ky.
An expert horsewoman who rode side-saddle, she had been a member of the Radnor Hunt for more than half a century and for many years served as joint master of the Pickering Hunt.
Survivors: her husband, Morris; a son, Morris Jr; daughters, Mary Hancock, Caroline Shipley, Elizabeth Forster and Charlotte C Betancourt; 19 grandchildren, and two grea-grandchildren.
Services: 3 pm today, St Thomas Church, Whitemarsh.
