"Esther White Raebel, the daughter of Colonel and Mrs. White, was born in Wapello County on November 4, 1881. She came to Audubon with her parents and lived on the farm east of Hamlin [Greeley Township section 6]. She taught rural school in the county for some years. On December 17, 1909, she was married to Robert Raebel at Omaha, Nebraska. Robert had been a resident of Audubon County since childhood. He served as Deputy Treasurer of Audubon County for a time. They ran a store in Montgomery County, then bought what was known as Raebel's Beach on the west shore of Lake Okoboji. They operated this until Robert's death in December 16, 1944. After his death the resort was sold and Esther moved into Spirit Lake for a time, and then came home to Audubon where she passed away in August of 1963. She was a member of the Methodist Church."
