Mary Alice, (Mayme) was born in Randolph, Utah on June 7, 1895, the daughter of John Rich and Mary Elizabeth Piggot South. They moved to Trenton, Utah, then to Logan, Utah. She graduated from North Cache High School at Richmond and then attended Brigham Young College, USAC(USU) and the Idaho "Tech" at Pocatello, Idaho. She taught school at Newton, Utah, Arimo, Idaho and then at Woodruff, Utah. She was been interested in music all her life and has been ward chorister since December 1958, a position which she still holds. (This biography was written in 1970.) She has led the Singing Mothers for several years. She has decorated cakes for most of the weddings around here and has done any number of birthday cakes. She has had cakes taken to St. George, Star Valley and to both California and Washington. She has done alot of textile painting and was the first woman in Rich County to win a sweepstakes ribbon for a bedspread she painted. She lives in Woodruff in the winter but spends the summer at their ranch up Monte Cristo road.
She married Theris (Slash) Cornia on December 24, 1925 in Logan, Utah at her parents home. They had four children: Merlyn, Keith, and twins Lloyd and Floyd.
