Obituary:
Ralph E. Langley, 84 of Leavenworth died Thursday October 27, 2005 at The University Of Kansas Hospital.
Ralph was born October 28, 1920 in Augusta , Kansas the son of Cleve and Running Fawn Daisy (Williams) Langley. At the age of fourteen, during the depression he served in the CCC. He entered the U.S. Army in 1935 and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. Part of his service was as a personal guard and driver to Generals Macarthur and Eisenhower. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1964. The next Monday he went to work for the University of Saint Mary . During his employment he supervised the renovation of several of the historic buildings and over saw the construction of the new library, he retired after twenty years of service as Plant Manager. He remains a devoted friend to the Sisters of Charity and their community.
Ralph was a 40 year member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a devoted Elder.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of the home and his children: Marcia (Ray) Standiford of Livingston Texas ; and R.E. Budd (Linda) Langley of Jadwin , Missouri . He is also survived by his grand children: Shawna Landy; Heidi Hedgecoke; Cappi Criscione; and Joe Langley, his great grandchild, Jamie Landy and his great great grandchild Cody Landy. Additional survivors are a brother, Harley (Betty) Langley and a sister Elmira (Jack) Piper.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:30 , Saturday October 29, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church . A funeral service will follow at 4:30 PM at the church following the visitation. Burial with military honors will be 11AM Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
