Donald E. Lansberry
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family of Donald E. "Goose" Lansberry, 76, of 508 E. Market St., Clearfield, who died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, in Clearfield Hospital.
There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield. The family suggests memorial contributions to Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Lansberry was born July 8, 1921, in Mineral Springs, the son of Earl E. and Mabel V. (Ball) Lansberry.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lansberry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Caldwell) Lansberry on Feb. 15, 1983; and a son, Donald E. Lansberry Jr.
He is survived by his long-time friend and companion Phyllis Nelson Sawyer, three sons, Merle L. "Sid" and David D., both of Clearfield, and Dean D. of Curwensville; a daughter, Jackie I. Day of Clearfield; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a brother, Ted Lansberry of Clearfield.
Mr. Lansberry was a 1939 graduate of Clearfield High School where he was a varsity letter winner in swimming and track and a district champion in the mile run. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 71st Infantry Division in the European Theatre. He was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
He retired from Harbison-Walker Refractories in 1983 after 43 years of service. The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
