ROCKTON - Lawrence A. McGonigal, Jr., 64, of Rockton, died Monday, Sept. 19, 1994, in his home.

He was born June 16, 1930, in Rockton, the son of Lawrence and Della Olson McGonigal. He married LaVonne Morelock in Rockton. She died Oct. 29, 1978. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S, Army and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. He was employed by the Winnebago County Forest Preserve for 28 years as a forest ranger.

He was a member of the Rockton American Legion Post No. 332 and the Roscoe V.F.W. Post No. 2955.

Survivors include his daughters, Kim Renae Palmer of North Port, Fla., and Tracey Lynn Slabaugh of Englewood, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two stepsons, Steven Allen King and Michael Lee King, both of Englewood, Fla.; four brothers, Lewis (Janice) McGonigal, James McGonigal, Morris McGonigal, all of Rockton, and Charles McGonigal of Rockford, Ill.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Muriel Della McGonigal.

Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 1994, in the Daley, Murphy, Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit. Friends may call Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
