Bessie was a long-term resident of Concord Place Retirement and Assisted Living Community in Northlake, IL where she is fondly remembered by friends and staff.
Bessie was born in San Benito, TX in 1921 to Earhart and Myrtle (Kime) Accola, but spent most of her childhood in Lime Ridge, WI. She married John Joseph Carey (born 1908, in Berlin, WI) in 1942 in Chicago where they had met. They settled there after WWII and reared one son and five daughters. She was blessed with 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Cremation was conducted by Northern IL Funeral Services, Inc., and a memorial service will be held in the summer at the Salem Honey Creek Church and Cemetery in Prairie du Sac, WI, where her parents and other Accola ancestors from Switzerland are interred.
