Connie Gottschall Poindexter, 62, of Salem passed away Friday, June 16, 2006. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Elma May Gottschall. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, and served as Chaplain of the Women of the Moose. She was employed as a Prevention Specialist with Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Care Services. Surviving are her daughter, Jodee Poindexter Arndt and husband Michael of Martinsburg, West Virginia; son, Judd Jacob Poindexter and wife Amber of Salem; grandchildren, Brian, Madison, Joey, Jacob, Evan and Adam; and her devoted companion, Joe Cunningham of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Childrens Advocacy Center, 541 Luck Avenue, Suite 308, Roanoke, Virginia 24016. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Unity Church of Roanoke Valley with the Rev. Diane Scribner Clevenger officiating. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Poindexter Family Cemetery, Campbell County, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road, 366-0707.
