Vernon Wood Miller, 83 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, May 11, 2015, at NHC Healthcare in Milan, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 6, 1932. in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late O. H. Miller and the late Irva Lee London Miller.

Mr. Miller graduated from Trimble High School, attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, retired from the United States Postal Service, was a member of Lemalsamac Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for over forty years and was treasurer for many years.

He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Wilford Mobley and Bro. Dana Watford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Dodson & husband Johnny of Unionville, Tennessee and Teresa Smith and husband Greg of Humboldt,Tennessee; two brothers, Finis Miller of Yorkville, Tennessee and Don Miller of Newbern, Tennessee; two sisters, Florence "Bug" Fultz of Newbern, Tennessee and Edith Moore of Yorkville, Tennessee and a grandson, John Dodson of Unionville, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nelle Viar Miller; three brothers, O. B. "Bruce" Miller, Charles Miller and Billy Miller ; four sisters, Juanita Carrell, Arthell McCann, Demova McKeel and Edna Miller.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hassell, Scott McCann, Mike McKeel, Mark Todd Miller, Keith Hulme and Alan Sims.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Mobley, Benson Hulme, Billy Rose, Elmer Barnes, John Gregory and Russell Hilliard.
