She was educated in Juab County schools, Utah State Agricultural College and Brigham Young University. She married Dr. Francis H. Beckstead in 1930 in the Manti Temple and raised five children, Marilyn Andrews, George, Robert, and Marriner Beckstead, and Elizabeth (Betty) Williams.
Edith was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, most notably as director of the two stake genealogy libraries for 25 years. The other principle interests in her life were the gospel, her family, and teaching elementary school in Levan and Nephi.
Her posterity includes 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by most of the grandchildren, by her son Robert Beckstead, and his wife Doris of Fairfax, Virginia, by her son Marriner L. Beckstead, his wife Jean of Elk Ridge, Utah, and by her daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Williams and her husband Arlo of Layton, Utah, her sister Donna Jenkins and husband Loskiel of San Diego, California, and her sister-in-law, Betty Belliston of Nephi, Utah.
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 18, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N., Nephi, Utah, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the services. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 19, at the Nephi 8th Ward Chapel, 222 S. 100 E., Nephi, Utah. Interment will be in the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.
