Mrs. Elizabeth T. Tyson, 89, died Sunday, September 9, in the Maryville Health Care Center after a long illness. Formerly of Maitland, she had been a resident of Maryville for ten years. She was a retired registered nurse.
Mrs. Tyson, the daughter of Alexander Thomson and Christine Sillers Thomson, was born Dec. 15, 1894, in Fairfax, Mo. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing. She had been a nurse for more than 50 years.
She was a member of the St. Oswald's in the Field Episcopal Church, north of Mound City.
In November of 1923 she was married to Joseph Tyson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963, and by a stepdaughter, Edith Tyson, in 1984.
Mrs. Tyson is survived by one stepdaughter, Mary Alice Cornelison, Maryville; one stepson, Joseph Curtis Tyson, Alexandria, Va., three brothers, Lee Thomson, Mound City, Thomas Thomson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and William Thomson, Springfield; one sister, Ann Seifers, Maryville; three grandsons, Richard Cornelison, Flemington, N.J., Robert Cornelison, Rochester, N.Y., and Joe Cornelison, Alexandria, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the St. Oswald's Church, with the Rev. Don Brown officiating. Interment was in Mount Hope Cememetery, Mound City.
