Death of Abram E. Hedges

At the age of forty-nine years and ten months, Abram E. Hedges died at his home in this village on Wednesday evening of Bright’s disease. Deceased was born in East Hampton, and was the son of Albert L. Hedges, a descendant of one of the original settlers of the town. Mr. Hedges had led a quiet and unostentatious life, following the occupation of farmer. He was a good, honest man and was highly respected by his townspeople. When the Union School district was formed in 1893 Mr. Hedges was chosen clerk of the Board of Education, which position he filled faithfully and well for six years, when his declining health compelled him to cease his services on the board. Deceased leaves a widow and three children, one son and two daughters. He had no brothers and only one sister, Mrs. D. C. Talmage, of this village. The funeral will be held at the house this afternoon at two o’clock, the Rev. Dr. J. B. Finch officiating. The burial will be at Cedar Lawn.
